CA. Sakchi Jain X AADAR Cover
From Hundreds to more than a Million
Charu Jain: How and when did you think of starting CA?
CA. Sakchi Jain: I was really confused on what to do after 12th. That's when my father said "CA ka sign ka value hota hai" and my parents also said that after becoming a Chartered Accountant, you can start your own practice. At that point, these were good enough reasons for me to start CA. Basically, after I started studying, I developed an interest in the field.
CJ: How did you come up with the idea of being a "Finfluencer/ Finance Content Creator"?
SJ: My family is basically into business, so I had an inclination towards it and I wanted to start something of my own. Obviously job was an option but I also wanted to do something which builds my personal identity. After clearing CA, I gave a lot of thought and I was quite active on Linked In. I started posting content and I got a great response from it. Eventually, at that time an Ed tech company approached me for an ad video so I thought let's give it a try and content creation can be something which I take up. This was a push for me. Then I started making videos and things worked out for good.
CJ: The first few videos might not have given you the reach you wanted, how was the initial phase?
SJ: Initially it was very demotivating. You create the content, spend 7-8 hours editing and you don't get the desired reach. But I was prepared for it because things won't work out overnight. I gave myself 6 months time to give my best and over the months, it started growing at a good pace.
CJ: Recently you were invited to an ICAI meet, how was it?
SJ: It was great actually. There's a Government vision that they want to improve financial literacy in India so ICAI is taking a step towards it to help the Government reach that goal. That's why they organized a meet for the top Financial influencers. We actually brainstormed on how can this be done. This is actually a great move by ICAI. Moreover, we getting recognition from ICAI is a very big thing. When I started content creation, one question I faced was if you are a CA, then why content creation; if you wanted to do this, then why did you do CA. Now, ICAI recognizing us is a huge thing for all the creators. It will also help in improving financial literacy in addition to building a trust in us.
CJ: When you started content creation, was there a lot of question from your parents/ relatives on why aren't you getting into a job or starting a practice since you already cleared CA?
SJ: Obviously this was there but my parents were really supportive. They were a bit resistant and had multiple questions like why do you want to do this; can you do it with a job. But I was like if I want to do something good in this then I will have to give full time for once. I convinced them to give me 6 months and I also didn't tell a lot of people because different people would have different opinions.
CJ: People obviously recognize you in social media but how is it like when you go outside?
SJ: It's not like everyone recognizes me but wherever I go, I get people who recognize me so it feels good. When they come up and tell that my content is useful and they learnt something from it (especially in front of my parents), it feels really great. It's nice that I am working towards something I want.
CJ: What are your future plans?
SJ: At the moment, I am exploring things. Definitely I want to grow in content creation but with this, I also want to start a business in future.
